Diploma Evaluation

The official body in Turkey which recognizes foreign institutions of higher education is the Council of Higher Education (Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu – YÖK) – www.yok.gov.tr. S’aide Student Services are here to assist you throughout this process so you can be assured you are on the right track. Every student has access in their S’aide App for this service.

The Council of Higher Education also deals with credential recognition for entry to university. It likewise provides services and assists domestic and international students in such matters as the recognition of their studies and associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s diplomas and degrees obtained abroad. It is set criteria for their validation.

This is an easy procedure in which the Provincial Department of Education in Istanbul (and in some cases a Turkish Embassy/Consulate) will provide an “Equivalency Letter” (in Turkish, a ”Denklik Belgesi”) certifying that the foreign high school diploma is equivalent to its counterpart, the Turkish high school diploma.

This document is delivered by applying in person and providing the original foreign high school diploma, its official Turkish translation and the student’s passport.

How do I obtain my “Denklik”?

Option A: from the local Turkish Embassy/Consulate where you live.

Option B: if this is not issued by the Turkish Embassy in your country of residence, then you should obtain it from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Turkey.

Please obtain/apply for the equivalency letter before coming to enroll as a student at a University.

S’aide Student Services will help you to obtain the equivalency letter from the Provincial Ministry of Education in Istanbul in case you have not obtained it in your own country. However, we would like to remind you that it is your responsibility to obtain this document.
